Bandag Retreading

We use Bandag retreading equipment and follow the Bandag retreading process for all tires. Here's what happens during a retreading service:

  • Inspection; We inspect your tire and its casing, both visually and electronically for defects.
  • Buffing: Your casing is inflated in preparation for a new tread.
  • Repair: We fix all defects identified during the inspection with sound materials.
  • Cushion: The uncured bonding layer is extruded, skives filled, and shoulders stripped to ready the casing.
  • Building: Using Bandag equipment, we apply a new tread that is straight and centered with end splices matching.
  • Enveloping: Your uncured, built tire is wrapped in elastic for curing.
  • Curing: The new tread permanently adheres to the prepared casing.

With our Bandag equipment, you know you're getting a safe and quality retread on all your tires.

Sustainability: Retreading is Green

Recapping vs. Regrooving vs. Retreading

Retread Tires in Green Bay, WI

  • Recapping is an old industry term for what is now more commonly called tire retreading.
  • Regrooving is a process that makes use of existing tread depth by adding new grooves to the original rubber. Besides some safety concerns, the regrooving process greatly reduces the likelihood of that tire being eligible for retread in the future.
  • Retreading, also known as recapping, involves buffing away the original tire tread, and applying a new layer of tread.
